Walled Lake Schools has a rich tradition rooted in performing arts through band, orchestra, theatre, choir, dance and many others.
We strive to continue providing opportunities to perform by offering to you a virtual showcase of the talent in Walled Lake.
We need you!

Performance Details:

  • Acts can be solo or ensemble from the same family to maintain social distancing.
  • All participants will be required to provide their own backing tracks.
  • All participants will need to supply a permission to audition and perform contract signed by a parent or guardian to submit an audition/performance video.

Video Guidelines: 

  • Record video in a quiet setting with a medium or full shot and plain backdrop. Please make sure you have adequate lighting to see your face.
  • Make sure the camera angle is set so that we can see your face.
  • Using a microphone or video camera, if available, will make for a more professional quality video.
  • Do not record using windows in the background.
  • Make sure the background is school appropriate.
  • Video should be labeled using instructions below for submission
  • If you are performing with a background track, please do not use the same device you are recording on.
  • Dress to Impress!

How to Record Your Video:

  • All videos should be recorded horizontally.
  • Please use your phone, computer, or a video camera to make your video.
  • It is preferred to use a stand or tripod or have someone else record you. Avoid holding the phone yourself. Keep it steady.
  • Video must be minimum of 720p resolution
  • Hit record: countdown from 10 silently and then start your performance.
  • Please do not introduce yourself at the start of the video, your video should be performance ready.
  • Speak/Sing/Perform clearly and while looking directly into the camera when possible.
  • After the performance, hold your position with a smile for 5 secs before stopping recording.

IMPORTANT!!! Have your phone recording horizontally (long ways) and make sure you frame your video as in the image below.

Instructions for Audition Video Upload and Creating a Link

Audition submissions are due by Friday, March 12 at 9pm*

Please name your video: student name_name of act_name of your school

Example: MattWeber_techdirector_keithelementary

  • To create a link for your video, you can use YouTube, Google or Dropbox.
  • You can find directions for each of these below.
  • Once you have your link, paste it into the submission form on our website Click Here

*If your performance is selected, but the video does not meet our requirements or for other various reasons, you may be contacted to edit and resubmit your video

If using Google (preferred method):

  1. Open Google Drive and ensure you’re logged into your Google account. (You must use a personal gmail account NOT a school account. We won’t have permission to access items in a school google drive).
  2. Click the “+New” button in the upper left corner and select “File Upload.”
  3. After it has uploaded, locate your file in your Drive and right click on it.
  4. You will need to change your sharing settings to “anyone with the link can view.” See Directions Below.
  • Step 1: Click “Get sharable link.”
  • Step 2: Select “Sharing settings,” then click on the dropdown list that appears next to “Copy link.”
  • Step 3: If “anyone with the link can view” does not appear in the initial option list, select “more.”
  • Step 4: Select “anyone with the link” and click “save.”
  • Step 5: Click “copy link.

If using YouTube:

  1. Sign in to YouTube.
  2. Select “Create a video and more” in the upper right corner, then click “Upload video.”  (If you do not already have an account, you will be prompted to create one when you select “Upload video.” Follow the prompts to do so, then proceed to the next steps below
  3. Click “select file” and locate the file you’d like to upload OR drag the file into the popup window.
  4. Follow the prompts. Go to the Privacy section of the page and mark your video as “UNLISTED” NOT Private.
  5. Copy the link created.
  6. Paste your link into the submission form on our website  Click Here which will be available until March 12.

If using Dropbox:

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click “Files” in the column on the left side of the page.
  3. On the right side of the page, select “Upload files.”
  4. Once your file has been uploaded, find it in your file list and hover over the file you’d like to share.
  5. Click “Share.”
  6. If a link hasn’t been created, click “Create a link” toward the bottom of the prompt window.
  7. The link will be automatically copied to your clipboard.
  8. Paste your link into the submission form on our website Click Here which will be available until March 12.

Broadcast Details

Our intent is to broadcast up to four different performances but will depend on act submissions. Each selected act would be featured in one performance. Shows will be broadcast in April. Recorded performances will be available each Friday night from 7:00 pm and run for one week. You can access that week’s show anytime within that week. We hope you will  tune in each week to enjoy all of the WLCSD talent!  Each broadcast will feature a variety of talent from Walled Lake students grades K-12. A program listing the performers will be posted on the website.
